FACTS ABOUT THAILAND

 

Geography: Eastern Asia, southern half of the Korean Peninsula bordering the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea

Climate: Average temperature in may and June is about 17.4- 20.5 C; humidity ranges from 69% to 80%.

Seasons: Korea’s weather is characterized by 4 distinct seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Spring lasts from late March to May and is warm. Various flowers, including the picturesque cherry blossom, cover the nation's mountains and fields during this time

Population: Around 49 million

Language: Korean is the national language. English is widely spoken in the cities.

Religion: Buddhists 23.2%, Christian 26.3%, none 49.3%.

Government: Republic

Electricity: 220 volts 50 cycles throughout the country.

Water: Drink only bottled or boiled water.

Local time: GMT + 9 hours.

 

Currency and Money Exchange

  • You may bring in foreign currencies or any other types of foreign exchange.
  • Thai currency is South Korean won.
  • Major foreign currencies can be exchanged for South Korean won with banks and authorized moneychangers.
  • 1 USD equals approximately 942 won; 1 Euro buys around 1380 won.
  • Cheques and drafts brought in, if the owner wants to sell them must be sold in a bank
  • Major credit cards are also widely accepted in South Korea
