Poverty Reduction and Social Protection

The topic of this Conference is inspired by unequal distribution of resources that causes poverty and  vulnerability of people. Vulnerability is a major obstacle to social and economic development. Poor people are especially vulnerable, they have few buffers or resources to cope with hazards or shocks. Yet they are significantly more likely to be affected by ill-health, unemployment, trade shocks, climate change, famine or conflict. Sustainable poverty reduction can only be achieved and managed effectively if vulnerability is better understood.

This Conference aims to identify and develop responses to vulnerability that gives greater agency and voice to the vulnerable and the poor, and engages policymakers and practitioners.

We will try to answer multiple questions regarding the role and importance of equal distribution of resources and social inclusion. What potential, role and impact do poor countries have in politics, business, education and public sector? What are the major social and economical trends and what are the possible ways for reducing the poverty in underdeveloped countries?

By taking a part in Poverty Reduction and Social Protection Conference 2007, you will have a chance to learn and discuss these and many more issues of importance in creating and developing poverty reduction strategies, especially among underdeveloped countries and disadvantage groups.
